Composition
Poison by Dior is a women's Amber Floral fragrance launched in 1985 and sold as an Eau de Toilette. It opens with plum, wild berries, coriander, anise and Brazilian rosewood, followed by a floral-spicy heart of tuberose, incense, white honey, cinnamon, opoponax, carnation, jasmine, orange blossom and rose, over a base of vanilla, amber, sandalwood, heliotrope, musk, vetiver and cedar.
To me this smells like walking into a ballroom where the chandeliers are dripping with something dangerous. Plum and wild berries hit first, dark and jammy, coriander and anise spicing the air like a secret. The heart is enormous — tuberose and incense, white honey and cinnamon, opoponax and carnation, a whole apothecary of resins and flowers burning at once. Vanilla and amber in the base only make it richer, deeper, more impossible to ignore. This is not a perfume, it is a coronation. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
