Composition
Givenchy Play Intense is an Oriental Fougere fragrance for men launched in 2008, advertised by Justin Timberlake in a milky-glass MP3-player bottle. Created by Emilie Coppermann and Lucas Sieuzac, the Eau de Parfum concentration brings mandarin and bergamot into coffee, pink pepper and amyris, over a deep woody-amber base of tonka bean, patchouli, vetiver and French labdanum.
To me this smells like an espresso bar inside a nightclub — mandarin and bergamot flashing bright at the door, and then coffee, dark and roasted, taking over completely. Pink pepper crackles over it like neon, amyris smoothing the edges with soft wood. Tonka, patchouli, vetyver and labdanum melt it into something warm and addictive at the base. It comes in a bottle shaped like an MP3 player and honestly, the scent has the same energy: young, loud, and fun. Beginner-friendly.
