Composition
Givenchy Pi was launched in 1998 as an ambery-vanilla Eau de Toilette for men. Its pyramid moves from fresh mandarin, tarragon and basil through anise and neroli into a rich base of vanilla, almond, tonka and benzoin. It is one of the classic sweet-warm designer scents of the late 1990s.
This is like walking into a mithai shop in winter — warm vanilla, roasted almonds, and caramelized sugar hanging in the air. The opening is surprisingly fresh, green herbs and mandarin, but within minutes the vanilla-almond warmth takes over completely. It feels cozy and slightly powdery, like a soft cashmere shawl. In Indian heat it can get cloying, so save it for evenings and winter weddings. Sweet-gourmand lovers will adore it on first sniff; beginners should try it in the cool season first.
