Composition
Ormonde Man is a masculine eau de parfum from Ormonde Jayne, launched in 2004 and composed by Geza Schoen. It opens with juniper berry, bergamot, pink pepper, cardamom and coriander, the heart revealing black hemlock and agarwood oud. Cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver and musk ground the base.
To me this smells like a pine forest in the Himalayan foothills — juniper berry and bergamot crisp as mountain air, pink pepper and cardamom crackling like twigs underfoot, coriander green and strange. Black hemlock and agarwood oud rise in the heart, dark and resinous as old temple wood, cedar, sandalwood, vetiver and musk grounding it like earth and stone. Geza Schoen's woody masterpiece — green, dark, quietly powerful. The oud is there, but woven in, not waved around. Beginner-friendly.
