Composition
Opus III is a floral-oriental eau de parfum for women and men by Karine Vinchon Spehner, launched in 2010 as part of the Library Collection. It opens with mimosa, broom, clove, nutmeg and thyme, develops violet, jasmine, ylang-ylang and orange blossom in the heart, and settles into ambrette, papyrus, musk, cedar, guaiac, sandalwood, benzoin and vanilla.
To me this smells like my grandmother's dressing table — the one with the silver-framed mirror and the little porcelain dish of powder. Mimosa is the first thing I get: soft yellow pompoms of it, powdery and nostalgic, with clove and nutmeg drifting in from the kitchen like she's making something warm. The heart is a whole flower shop pressed between pages: violet, jasmine, ylang-ylang, orange blossom — all soft-focus and gentle. It dries down to ambrette and musk, skin-warm and clean, with cedar and vanilla humming underneath. Powdery, floral, tender. The kind of scent that feels like being tucked in. Beginner-friendly.
