Composition
Material is an amber-vanilla eau de parfum for women and men by Cécile Zarokian, launched in 2021. It opens with elemi oil and patchouli oil, develops Madagascar vanilla absolute and benzoin resinoid in the heart, and settles into guaiac wood oil, oud oil, osmanthus absolute, frankincense resinoid, labdanum absolute and tonka bean absolute.
To me this smells like vanilla that grew up and got dangerous. Elemi and patchouli spark at the top, then Madagascar vanilla absolute pours thick over benzoin, sweet, resinous, almost edible. But the base is where it turns: guaiac wood, oud oil, osmanthus, frankincense, labdanum, tonka. Smoke and wood wind through the sweetness until it feels like vanilla beans roasted over a campfire. It is gourmand-adjacent, never gourmand, too smoky, too resinous, too grown. Sweetness is the bait; the woods are the hook. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
