Composition
The scent of liberty by Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm — a feminine fougère. Lavender, mandarin, black currant and petitgrain open onto orange blossom and jasmine over Madagascar vanilla, musk, cedar and ambergris.
I picture a walled garden just after the sprinklers — Lavender, clean and calming, mandarin, sweet and juicy, black currant, tart and inky and petitgrain, bitter green-orange leaf fresh-cut and dripping with dew. Then comes Lavender, clean and calming, orange blossom, white and honeyed and jasmine, heady and white, and the scent turns a corner into something more tender and full. Madagascar vanilla, rich and creamy, musk, soft and skin-like, dry cedar, pencil-shaving woods and ambergris, salty-sweet and mineral anchor the base — warm, dark, and utterly sure of themselves. It ends like the last scene of a good film — you want to experience it again. Beginner-friendly — a gentle introduction to the house.
