Composition
Insensé is an Aromatic Fougere fragrance for men launched in 1993, created by Daniel Moliere as the male counterpart to Amarige. An unusual, experimental male floral for its time, it opens with aldehydes, black currant, lavender, basil and citruses, flows into a monumental white floral heart of lily-of-the-valley, magnolia and iris, and settles on a fir balsam base.
To me this smells like 1993 deciding to be brave — aldehydes and black currant sparking over lavender and basil, citruses flashing bright, and then this monumental white floral heart: lily-of-the-valley, magnolia, iris, blooming huge on a man's skin when nobody did that. Fir dries it down green and resinous, like a forest at the edge of the garden. It was experimental then and it still feels fearless now. A floral for men with actual courage. Basil hums green and peppery under the aldehydic sparkle. Beginner-friendly.
