I Promise is a vow made in the dark — Bulgarian rose, but not the pretty kind: this one is deep, spiced with clove, shadowed by smoky cypriol and labdanum, like roses left in a temple overnight. It smells like devotion with an edge, love that has survived something. Frédéric Malle's original is one of the great dark roses, and this keeps its solemn, smouldering spirit. A promise, kept in scent. Heavy, beautiful, and not for the faint of heart. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
