Composition
Hiris is a feminine eau de parfum from Hermès, launched in 1999. It opens with Iris, Coriander, Carnation and Amber. The heart reveals Iris, Neroli and Rose settling into a base of Cedar, Almond Tree, Honey and Vanilla. Its character is defined by Iris, Powdery and Woody accords.
This is the smell of cold hands in winter. Iris rises powdery and rooty — like frozen earth and makeup powder — with coriander's green snap and carnation's clove warmth. Then honey and vanilla melt through like something sweet remembered, and cedar and almond keep it dry and composed. It is intellectual and beautiful at once. The iris here is not makeup; it is architecture. The neroli lifts it at the edges, bright as a struck match, and the almond tree note adds something green and nutty underneath the powder. It smells like a woman who reads difficult books and laughs easily. Beginner-friendly.
