Guidance 46 is an Exceptional Extrait for women and men by Quentin Bisch, launched in 2024 with 46% perfume oils. It opens with pear, frankincense, hazelnut, rose water, pink pepper and bitter almond, develops saffron, rose, sambac jasmine and osmanthus in the heart, and settles into cistus, sandalwood, akigalawood, ambergris, vanilla, ambrette, georgywood and cypriol.
To me this smells like opening a Diwali mithai box someone very rich sent you — hazelnut and bitter almond, pear so ripe it's almost fermented, rose water dripping off everything. It's decadent to the point of being dizzying, and this is the extrait, so none of it whispers. Then the incense arrives: frankincense curling through saffron and sambac jasmine, osmanthus adding its apricot-leather glow. The base is a whole forest of rare woods — sandalwood, akigalawood, cistus — with ambergris and vanilla smoothing the edges. Lush, dense, expensive-smelling. But it's a lot of perfume, and it knows it. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
