Composition
Garuda (2015) by Luca Maffei is an oriental woody extrait inspired by the Angkor civilization, named for the celestial bird of Hindu and Buddhist tradition. Cumin, pink pepper, orange and bergamot open it; Cambodian oud, rum and saffron form the heart; patchouli, amber, woods, cedar, vanilla, cashmeran, vetiver and musk ground the base.
Garuda is a temple in scent: cold metallic spice against warm saffron and a dominating Cambodian oud, settling into amber and patchouli serenity. Maffei's own much-worn creation -- sexy yet meditative, powerful yet calm. Beginners: advanced oud territory; sample first, wear in cool weather or evenings.
