Composition
Flower Market is a feminine eau de toilette from Maison Margiela, launched in 2012. It opens with Freesia and Green Leaves. The heart reveals Tuberose, Jasmine Sambac, Egyptian Jasmine and Rose De Mai settling into a base of Peach, Oakmoss and Cedar. Its character is defined by White Floral, Floral and Tuberose accords.
To me this smells like a Paris flower market at dawn — the hour when the stalls are being set up and the whole street smells of green stems and possibility. Freesia and green leaves open crisp and dewy, like the first buckets of water hitting the pavement. It is freshness with a pulse. Tuberose, jasmine sambac, Egyptian jasmine and rose de mai erupt into the heart — white flowers in glorious, almost overwhelming abundance, the way a market overwhelms you with colour — and peach, oakmoss and cedar settle underneath, fruity and green and grounded, like the wooden crates everything arrived in. Joyful, lush, and completely alive. Beginner-friendly.
