Composition
Esquel, from Xerjoff's XJ 17/17 collection, is an oriental-floral eau de parfum for women. It opens with pink pepper, iris, lemon, lavender, bergamot and myrtle, reveals rose, patchouli, orange blossom, petitgrain, Himalayan nard, ylang-ylang and cinnamon in the heart, and settles into vanilla, opoponax, tonka bean, vetiver and musk.
A spice market inside a flower shop inside a temple. Pink pepper and cinnamon spark over lemon and bergamot, iris and rose bloom powdery and rich, orange blossom and ylang add a tropical glow. Himalayan nard brings something ancient and rooty; opoponax, vanilla and tonka resin it golden. Patchouli, vetiver and musk ground the whole beautiful chaos. It is a lot — gloriously, intentionally a lot. The vetiver is the earthy anchor in all that beautiful chaos — green roots holding the spice market down. Tonka sweetens the edges like a kindness. It is a lot, and it is glorious. Beginner-friendly.
