Composition
Deep Red, launched in 2001, is a warm fruity-floral eau de parfum for women. Blood orange, black currant, clementine, pear and mandarin orange open the scent, with ginger, ginger flower, tuberose, freesia and hibiscus seed at the heart. Vanilla, sandalwood, musk and california cedar form the base.
This smells like a night out that starts at golden hour. Blood orange and black currant fizz like a cocktail, ginger adds heat, and then tuberose and freesia bloom huge and white against the dark fruit. Vanilla and sandalwood warm the whole thing down like streetlights coming on. It is fruity the way a good party is fruity — loud, joyful, and a little bit reckless. The hibiscus seed adds this strange, almost powdery depth under the fruit, and the California cedar dries it down to something warm and woody. It is the rare fruity scent that actually has a backbone — it doesn't just sparkle and vanish. Beginner-friendly.
