Composition
Dark Purple is an eau de parfum for women by Montale, launched in 2011 and composed by Pierre Montale. It opens with plum and orange, deepens into rose, red berries, patchouli and geranium, and dries down to musk, teak wood and amber. Fruity, rosy and musky, it is a bold, jammy floral with the house's signature intensity.
The opening is a burst of dark plum and berries — juicy, slightly tart, almost like a berry compote. The rose soon takes over, rich and full-bodied, with patchouli adding a dark, earthy depth underneath. The dry-down is warm musk and amber over smooth teak wood, cosy and enveloping. It is loud in the best way: confident, sensual, made for evenings and celebrations. In Indian weather it is strictly a cooler-month or night-time wear. Moderately beginner-friendly for lovers of bold fruity-florals, but the intensity means sampling first is wise.
