Composition
Chapter 5 is a unisex fougère-woody eau de parfum by Coralie Spicher, launched in 2025. It opens with dry wood and a black ink accord, develops birch, incense, oud and sandalwood in the heart, and settles into cedarwood, moss and vanilla.
To me this smells like a writer's study at 2am — the desk lamp is the only light, and there's a fountain pen leaking ink onto good paper. That ink note is real: mineral, dark, almost metallic, like the smell of a freshly opened ink bottle. Dry wood and birch smoke curl around it like cigarette smoke in an old film. Then it deepens into something ancient: incense resin, agarwood, sandalwood, cedar — a whole forest burning slow in the background — with moss growing damp at the edges and a whisper of vanilla that never quite sweetens it. This is a scent for people who like their perfumes to read like novels. Dark ones. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
