Composition
Chamade is a feminine eau de toilette from Guerlain, launched in 1969. It opens with Hiacynth, Aldehydes, Rose, Jasmine and Bergamot. The heart reveals Galbanum, Rose, Lilac, Jasmine, Lily-Of-The-Valley and Cloves settling into a base of Tolu Balsam, Benzoin, Peru Balsam, Amber, Vetiver, Vanilla and Sandalwood. Its character is defined by Green, Amber and Floral accords.
This smells like a love letter from another century. Galbanum and hyacinth open green and wild — like a garden in spring rain — then rose, jasmine and lilac bloom through in waves. Cloves spice the flowers; tolu, benzoin and peru balsam warm them into something golden and resinous. Amber, vanilla and sandalwood make it glow from within. It is Guerlain at its most romantic: green, floral, and burning with quiet passion. The vetiver is the green earth under all that romance — roots and rain — keeping the flowers honest. It is passion with its feet on the ground. Beginner-friendly.
