Composition
Angéliques sous la Pluie is a unisex eau de parfum launched by Frederic Malle in 2000, composed by Jean-Claude Ellena. Its name means 'angelicas in the rain': coriander and pink pepper sparkle over an angelica-and-cedar heart, drying to juniper and tender musk. A transparent, watercolour-green scent of nature after rain.
Pink pepper and coriander flash like the first drops of rain on hot earth, then a green, herbal angelica unfolds — wet grass, crushed leaves, juniper berries like a cold gin accord. It stays weightless and transparent, finishing in a soft green musk. This is the scent of the first monsoon shower in India, bottled: petrichor, cool air, relief. Beginners will find it fresh and easy, though its subtlety means it won't project far — it is meant to be discovered up close.
