Composition
Angélique Noire is a unisex eau de parfum from Guerlain, launched in 2005. It opens with Angelica, Pear and Pink Pepper. The heart reveals Jasmine and Caraway settling into a base of Vanilla, Angelica and Cedar. Its character is defined by Musky, Vanilla and Powdery accords.
To me this smells like an angelica garden at twilight — green, strange, and quietly magical. Angelica opens herbal and earthy, almost like celery grown in moonlight, with pear adding a soft, dewy sweetness and pink pepper crackling over everything like distant stars. It is unusual, and it is captivating. Jasmine blooms into the heart, white and luminous against all that green, caraway adding its dark, rye-bread depth — an odd pairing that works beautifully — and vanilla, angelica and cedar settle into a base that is creamy, woody, and faintly mysterious. Dark on the name, luminous on the skin. Beginner-friendly.
