Composition
212 Men Eau de Toilette by Carolina Herrera, launched in 1999. A woody floral musk fragrance for men. It opens with green notes, grapefruit, bergamot, lavender and spices, moves through ginger, violet, gardenia and sage, and rests on musk, sandalwood, incense, vetiver, guaiac wood and labdanum.
To me this smells like a great city at 8am, just waking up. Green notes and grapefruit snap like cold air off the river, bergamot and lavender crisp as a fresh shirt. Then ginger and violet soften it into something unexpectedly gentle, gardenia and sage drifting through like a flower cart on the corner. The base is all quiet woods and incense — sandalwood, vetiver, guaiac wood, labdanum — settling like the hum of the city at night. Urban, clean, and quietly magnetic. Easy to love, even for beginners.
