Ylang-YlangXeryus is a Woody Aromatic fragrance for men launched in 1986, created by Alberto Morillas. A classic aromatic fougère opening with lavender, jasmine, green notes, citrus and florals, it blends juniper berry, tarragon, cinnamon, coriander, cypress and sandalwood in the heart over a deep woody-amber base of oakmoss, balsam fir, leather, vetiver, amber, incense, cedar and musk.
To me this smells like 1986 in the best possible way — lavender and green notes first, sharp as a shoulder-padded power suit, citrus and florals stacked like a Miami Vice wardrobe. Juniper, tarragon, cinnamon, coriander, cypress churn through the middle, and the base is pure vintage muscle: oakmoss, balsam fir, leather, vetiver, amber, cedar, incense. A classic aromatic fougère from the power-dressing era — bold, mossy, unapologetic. They simply don't make them like this anymore, for better and for worse. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
