X for Men is a masculine parfum from Clive Christian, launched in 2001 and composed by perfumer Geza Schoen. It opens with rhubarb, pineapple and bergamot, the heart revealing iris, paprika and jasmine. The dry-down settles into Virginia cedar, cinnamon, oakmoss, amber, vetiver, styrax, French labdanum and vanilla. An oriental fougere built on precious natural ingredients.
Scent story
To me this smells like a spice market at golden hour — rhubarb and pineapple bright and tart up top, paprika and cinnamon warming the middle, iris powdering everything like dust in sunbeams. Virginia cedar, oakmoss, amber and vetiver build the base like old wood and stone, with labdanum and vanilla glowing underneath. Geza Schoen built a classic masculine woody-spicy here: rich, warm, and quietly luxurious. Old-school in the best way. Styrax smoulders in the base, balsamic and warm as church incense. Beginner-friendly.
