Composition
Violet Blonde is a floral woody musk Eau de Parfum launched in 2011 as the first release in Tom Ford's Signature Collection. It opens with violet leaf, pink pepper and Italian mandarin, leading to a powdery heart of Tuscan iris absolute, orris butter and sambac jasmine. The base blends musk, suede, cedarwood, vetiver and benzoin.
This smells like a vintage dressing table in a Paris apartment — violet leaf and pink pepper opening green and powdery, mandarin adding a citrus sparkle, and then the heart goes full powder-puff: Tuscan iris and orris root, that cool, cosmetic, expensive powderiness, with jasmine softening it like silk. Suede, benzoin, musk, vetiver, and cedar in the base make it warm and skin-like underneath the powder. It is the first Signature Collection release, and it smells like old Hollywood glamour updated: powdery, musky, quietly sexy. A blonde in the Lauren Bacall sense. Beginner-friendly.
