Composition
A November 2016 oriental-floral edition of Velvet Orchid for women. Rum, honey, mandarin orange and bergamot open it; black orchid, rose and jasmine form the heart; myrrh, vanilla and sandalwood close the base. A brighter, more radiant take on the 2014 original, offered as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.
To me this smells like golden hour hitting a ballroom — rum and honey opening warm and glowing, mandarin and bergamot throwing light everywhere. Then black orchid blooms at the centre, dark and velvety, ringed with rose and jasmine like candles around an idol. Myrrh, vanilla and sandalwood close it soft and radiant. It is the brighter sister of Velvet Orchid: all the opulence, but sunlit instead of shadowed. Pure evening glamour. Myrrh glows resinous and golden beneath the florals, like light through honey.
