Composition
Orchidée Vanille by Van Cleef & Arpels (2009) is a warm vanilla-floral Eau de Parfum by perfumer Randa Hammami, part of the Collection Extraordinaire. It pairs mandarin and lychee with a heart of violet, bitter almond and Bulgarian rose over vanilla absolute, tonka bean and cedar. The composition is gourmand but kept elegant rather than cloying.
A vanilla for people who think they don't like vanilla. Orchidée Vanille wraps a rich vanilla absolute in bitter almond, lychee and rose — so it reads warm and creamy rather than sugary, like vanilla orchid petals warmed by skin. The cedar keeps it grounded and the whole thing glows gently for hours. For beginners: this is one of the friendliest, most wearable vanillas in designer perfumery — easy to love, easy to wear, lovely in Indian winters and monsoons alike.
