Composition
Sugandhco Shamama is a traditional alcohol-free attar from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, crafted by Sugandhco. Pure oil — a drop or two is enough, and it blooms with body heat.
To me it smells like the inside of a hundred-year-old attar shop in Kannauj — copper deghs still warm from the still, saffron and spice dust hanging in the air, rose and kewda blooming through a haze of amber and sandalwood. Shamama is the old soul of Indian perfumery: dense, dark, resinous, completely unbothered by modern taste. This is history in a bottle. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
