A Private Blend chypre-floral for women and men launched in February 2020, created by Guillaume Flavigny. Sichuan pepper and turmeric open it; May rose, Bulgarian rose and Turkish rose form the heart; patchouli and tonka bean close it. A wild bouquet from Tom Ford's own rose garden, in a dusky pink matte flacon.
Scent story
To me this smells like a rose with thorns, and it is proud of them. The Sichuan pepper is electric at first — that tingling, numbing spice, like the real peppercorn on the tongue — with turmeric adding golden warmth. It wakes you up. Then the roses arrive, and they are magnificent: May rose, Bulgarian rose, Turkish rose, layer upon layer of velvet petals, with patchouli giving them earthy depth and tonka a soft almond sweetness. It is a chypre-floral with a bite — beautiful, but it pricks. Beginner-friendly.
