Composition
A Private Blend oriental-floral for women and men launched in February 2022, part of the Private Rose Garden trio. Chinese peony opens it; rose forms the heart; myrrh and labdanum close the base. A potent, smoky rose with an untamed attitude, in a transparent pink chess-piece flacon.
To me this is a porcelain rose in a temple courtyard — Chinese peony bright as lacquer, then rose, deep and crimson, over myrrh and labdanum, resinous and faintly smoky. It smells like incense drifting through a flower shop, sacred and sensual at once. The labdanum is amber and a little leathery, and it gives the rose a dark, resinous depth — porcelain with a shadow. It wears close and quiet, the way the best roses do. Tom Ford's quietest rose: floral on top, resin beneath, beautiful all the way down. Beginner-friendly.
