Composition
Femme Rochas, launched in 1944 and composed by Edmond Roudnitska during wartime Paris, is one of the great chypres of perfumery — created as a declaration of love from Marcel Rochas to his wife Hélène. Plum, peach and bergamot open onto carnation, rose and jasmine over oakmoss, leather, amber and vanilla.
Femme is a femme fatale in fragrance form — dense purple plum and velvety peach wrapped in spice, blooming into a rich heart of carnation, rose and jasmine with a whisper of cloves. The oakmoss-leather-amber base is deep, warm and unmistakably vintage, like black lace and candlelight. This is not a fragrance that whispers; it commands, seduces and lingers. A masterpiece for connoisseurs and lovers of classic chypres, best worn in cool weather and evening settings. Not for beginners — its power, spice and old-school richness demand experience and confidence.
