To me this smells like oud wearing a tuxedo — saffron striking the match, metallic and electric, elemi resin bright as polished wood, and then the Laotian oud arrives: dark, smooth, impossibly refined, like smoke frozen into velvet. Vanilla softens the edges, ambrette musk keeping it close to skin. Atlas cedar and Indonesian patchouli stretch it into something vast and calm. This is Kurkdjian's oud at its most civilized — still a beast, just one in a tailored suit. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
