Composition
The original 2013 extrait de parfum from the Oud Mood collection, built on Laotian oud with saffron, Ceylon cinnamon and Brazilian copahu balm. Composed by Francis Kurkdjian. (A 2026 reworking with different notes exists; this record covers the original.)
Saffron opens it with a leathery, golden glow, then Ceylon cinnamon warms the heart like spiced chai. The Laotian oud and copahu balm base is smooth and resinous rather than barnyard — velvet indeed, dark but polished. It wears like a silk shawl: luxurious, close, enveloping. Winter evenings only in India; a little goes far. For oud lovers and experienced noses.
