Composition
Les Heures de Cartier: L'Heure Promise I is a floral green fragrance for women and men launched in 2009 by Mathilde Laurent, part of the luxury Les Heures de Parfum collection. It captures the scent of an early morning: green notes and petitgrain open onto a heart of iris, while sandalwood and musk provide a soft, warm finish. It was sold as a 75 ml eau de toilette.
This smells like rain on a windowsill where someone left a bouquet of irises — green notes and petitgrain first, all wet leaves and crushed stems, then the iris blooms powdery and cool, like violet-scented talc settling on skin. Musk and sandalwood hold it close, intimate and clean. It is the quietest hour of the morning rendered as scent: nothing demands attention, everything is soft-focus. I think of old love letters, pressed flowers, the inside of a linen cupboard. If perfume could whisper, this is what it would sound like. Beginner-friendly.
