Composition
Le Baiser du Dragon by Cartier is an oriental woody fragrance for women launched in 2003 by Alberto Morillas. It opens with amaretto, bitter almond, gardenia and neroli, leading into a heart of cedar, iris, musk, jasmine and rose. The base is warm and gourmand with vetiver, patchouli, benzoin, amber, dark chocolate and caramel.
To me this smells like a Parisian pâtisserie at 4pm, when the day's last batch of amaretto biscuits is coming out of the oven. Bitter almond and amaretto liqueur wrap around you first — warm, boozy, irresistible — then gardenia and neroli drift in like flowers on the counter, and dark chocolate shavings fall over everything. Caramel and benzoin melt into the base, golden and slow. It's called the dragon's kiss because it starts sweet and ends with a breath of fire — but honestly, it just smells like the best afternoon of your life. Beginner-friendly.
