Composition
Le Male is Jean Paul Gaultier's landmark 1995 masculine fragrance by Francis Kurkdjian, the scent that defined an era of sweet-aromatic men's perfumery. Mint, lavender and bergamot open over a spiced heart of cinnamon, caraway and orange blossom, settling into the famous vanilla-tonka-amber base with sandalwood and cedar. It comes in the iconic sailor-stripped male torso bottle.
The opening is pure nostalgia: cool mint and shaving-soap lavender with bergamot brightness. Then cinnamon and orange blossom warm it up, and the legendary base arrives — creamy vanilla, tonka bean and amber over soft woods, sweet and comforting like a warm embrace. Three decades on it still turns heads in Indian winters and on cool evenings; in summer heat the sweetness can cloy. An all-time beginner classic — if you've never owned a designer fragrance, this is where generations started.
