Composition
Launched in 2015 in the Le Gemme Orientali trio, composed by Daniela Andrier and inspired by lapis lazuli. Jasmine opens over incense, with agarwood in the base. A mysterious woody-oriental of jasmine, incense and oud.
To me this smells like a lapis lazuli stone held up to candlelight — jasmine glowing white-gold at the center, incense smoke curling blue around it, oud dark and deep as the stone itself. Three notes, and the whole thing feels carved from something ancient. It is meditative and severe, beautiful the way deep water is beautiful. The oud here is not sweet or friendly; it is elemental, and the incense only makes it more otherworldly. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
