Composition
Launched in 2016 as part of Bvlgari's Le Gemme high perfumery collection, inspired by Kashmir sapphire. Bergamot essence and Sicilian orange open over jasmine sambac and Sichuan pepper, with patchouli, cedarwood and ambery incense in the base. A woody-floral built on nocturnal jasmine and patchouli.
To me this smells like a spice market in Kerala at dawn, before the heat arrives. Bergamot and Sicilian orange sparkle like the first light on brass scales, then Sichuan pepper crackles — electric, numbing, thrilling — with jasmine sambac blooming white and heavy over the stalls. Patchouli adds its dark, earthy depth underneath, like sacks of dried leaves. Ambery incense warms the base, resinous and golden. It's India as a gemstone: bright, faceted, and cut with precision. A gemstone you wear on skin instead of setting in gold — and somehow more precious for it. Beginner-friendly.
