Composition
La Panthère Parfum by Cartier is a chypre floral fragrance for women launched in September 2020 by Mathilde Laurent. It is a richer and more intense interpretation of the iconic feline-floral signature: gardenia colored and warmed with apricot notes of osmanthus, with moss, patchouli and musk intensifying the chypre accord. It was released as a 25, 50 and 75 ml perfume in the signature panther bottle with black details.
To me this is a panther moving through a monsoon orchard — wild apricots fallen and fermenting on wet earth, gardenia and osmanthus blooming heavy in the humid air, everything green and overripe at once. The moss is what makes it feral: damp stone, forest floor, that bitter green bite under the fruit. It dries down softer, musk smoothing the edges, but the moss never fully leaves — like the animal has walked on and you're left with its footprints in wet soil. It is fruity but never girlish, floral but never polite. A chypre with claws, and I respect it enormously. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
