Composition
Jasmin Imperatrice Eugenie is a floral-woody-musk eau de parfum for women by Olivier Creed, launched in 1989. Commissioned by Napoleon III for Empress Eugenie, it opens with bergamot, develops Italian jasmine, ambergris and Bulgarian rose in the heart, and settles into sandalwood and vanilla.
To me this smells like an empress's garden at twilight, commissioned by an emperor and it shows — bergamot bright for a breath, then Italian jasmine unfolding in great white waves. Bulgarian rose and ambergris give it depth and a faint salt-warmth, like skin after a long day, and sandalwood with vanilla wraps everything in cream. Regal without being cold. A white floral that knows exactly what it is doing. The ambergris gives it a salty, sea-air warmth, like skin after a long afternoon in the sun. Beginner-friendly.
