Composition
Released in 2015 and named after a line from Victor Hugo's poetry. Black pepper, galbanum and black currant open into geosmin - the scent of wet earth - rose oil and olibanum, over patchouli, ambroxan, calypsone and vetiver. Petrichor and incense in a bottle.
To me this smells like the first rain hitting Delhi's dry earth after months of loo — that geosmin hit, the scent of wet soil rising like a memory you didn't know you had. Black pepper cracks over it like thunder, galbanum green and bitter as crushed stems, black currant darkening the edges like monsoon clouds. Rose oil blooms in the middle of the storm, improbable and perfect, olibanum smoke threading through it like temple bells in the distance. Patchouli, vetiver and ambroxan drag it all down into damp, mineral earth that stays on the skin for hours. Petrichor, bottled by a poet. Victor Hugo would approve.
