Composition
Water NotesAn opulent, sophisticated oud by Pierre Montale: morning dew and Calabrian lemon open into saffron powder, rose petals, teakwood, geranium leaf and guaiac wood, settled on white musk, precious woods and ambergris.
To me this smells like a Mumbai thunderstorm rolling over a sea-facing penthouse — Calabrian lemon and water notes crashing in first, all electricity and wet pavement, before the real business begins. The saffron arrives like warm powder on your collar, the rose and geranium darkening into teak wood and guaiac smoke, and then the oud — deep, woody, almost medicinal — settles over amber and white musk like a velvet shawl. It is opulence that doesn't ask permission. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
