Scent story

Eragon opens with a jolt — bergamot and pink pepper giving way almost immediately to cinnamon and cardamom, like walking into a spice market at dusk. The davana and cypriol add a smoky, almost incense-like texture, and then the vanilla bean, tonka and leather wrap everything in a thick, boozy warmth that feels like velvet in the dark. It is unapologetically rich; in Indian winters (such as they are) it will bloom magnificently, but in May heat it could become overwhelming — reserve it for evenings and air-conditioned nights. Definitely not for beginners or the faint-hearted; this is a connoisseur's winter weapon.
