Composition
Éclat de Rose (2019) by Nathalie Lorson, from the Atelier Versace collection. A floral-oriental built around Moroccan Rose Centifolia, hand-picked at dawn: velvety rose paired with ambrox reveals facets of amber, incense, woods, tobacco and musk. Tobacco and incense open dark and rich, the rose-ambroxan heart blooms opulent, over an amber, musk and woody base.
To me this smells like a rose picked at dawn in a field that happens to be next to a bonfire — tobacco and incense smoldering at the opening, strange and captivating, and then Moroccan rose centifolia blooming velvety and true in the heart, hand-picked and perfect. Ambroxan, amber, musk and woods in the base give it a warm, modern glow that carries for hours. The smoke is just the frame; the rose is the painting — and what a painting it is. Beginner-friendly.
