Composition
Délices by Cartier is a floral fruity fragrance for women launched in 2006 by Christine Nagel, named after a Cartier jewelry collection. It opens with frosted cherry, pink pepper and bergamot, followed by a heart of jasmine, violet and freesia. The base is sensual with tonka bean, vanilla, amber and sandalwood.
To me this smells like biting into a cherry wrapped in pink tissue paper. The cherry is bright and juicy, pink pepper sparkling on top like soda fizz, and then violet and jasmine float in — soft, powdery, very French. As it settles, tonka and vanilla warm it into something like a patisserie window at dusk, amber and sandalwood glowing behind the glass. It is joyful and a little mischievous, the perfume of someone who laughs with their whole face. Sweet, yes, but the pepper keeps it from ever being childish. Beginner-friendly.
