Composition
Dahlia Noir L'Eau is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women launched in spring 2013, a more vivid, lively and fresh version of the 2011 original. Francois Demachy shows the delicate side of the dangerous black dahlia: cool crystal citruses and neroli sparkle on top, leading to a heart of rose petals, over a chypre base of patchouli, cedar and musk.
To me this smells like the dangerous dahlia decided to behave — neroli, green notes, lemon and grapefruit opening vivid and fresh, and then rose and peony blooming delicate and pretty in the heart, all soft petals and morning light. Cedar, musk, patchouli and amberwood keep the base clean and modern. The lighter, livelier sister of Dahlia Noir — all the elegance, none of the menace, like a thriller heroine on her day off. The neroli keeps it sparkling from start to finish, like champagne bubbles that never go flat. Beginner-friendly.
