Composition
Cartier de Lune by Cartier is a floral woody musk fragrance for women launched in 2011 by Mathilde Laurent. It opens with spicy notes of pink pepper and juniper berries, paving the way for a floral heart of honeysuckle, rose, lily-of-the-valley and cyclamen. The base of musk and woodsy notes is warm and soothing.
To me this smells like moonlight on a white garden, the kind of night where everything is silver and still. Juniper berries and pink pepper give a cool, sparkling opening — like stepping out onto a terrace where the air is suddenly clearer. Then the white flowers unfurl: lily-of-the-valley delicate as porcelain, honeysuckle sweet and dewy, rose and cyclamen soft as whispered conversation. The musk base is like clean skin under silk, with woody notes warm underneath like distant firelight. It is the quietest kind of beautiful — no drama, no noise, just a woman walking through her own garden at midnight, completely at peace and completely herself. Beginner-friendly.
