Composition
An ode to the rush of adventure by Pierre Montale: citrus and juicy pear open into Turkish rose, Indian ginger roots and patchouli leaves, over amber, incense, benzoin resin and sensual white musk.
To me this smells like the rush of adventure itself. Citrus and juicy pear open bright and cold — spray off the bow of a boat, fruit eaten on deck. Then Turkish rose blooms through Indian ginger — the rose lush, the ginger rooty and hot — with patchouli leaves green underneath. The base is warmth after the cold water: amber golden, benzoin resinous, incense smoking faintly, white musk soft as a towel. Fresh on top, warm underneath. The ode to adventure smells like the moment you decide to jump in. Beginner-friendly.
