Composition
Ange ou Demon is a Givenchy Eau de Parfum for women from 2006. It contrasts cool notes — saffron, thyme, mandarin and white florals — with a warm, sweet base of vanilla, tonka bean, Brazilian rosewood and oakmoss. The name, meaning angel or demon, reflects this light-dark duality.
Two perfumes in one bottle: it opens cold and strange — saffron and thyme like a metallic breeze — then slowly melts into one of the warmest vanilla dry-downs in designer perfumery. The heart of lilies and orchids is creamy and almost narcotic, like temple flowers at night. On skin it eventually becomes a cozy vanilla-wood blanket with a mysterious edge. It's dramatic and memorable, beautiful in winter and monsoon evenings. Not the easiest first perfume — beginners should sample it twice before deciding, but vanilla lovers will likely be enchanted.
