Composition
An affogato in fragrance form: black coffee and amaretto liquor open into vanilla ice cream with a hint of speculoos, over vanilla pods, brown sugar and grey amber.
To me this is the first sip of an affogato in a Milan cafe, the kind where the waiter sets a little glass cup of black coffee beside a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you pour it over yourself. Bitter espresso, a splash of amaretto liqueur, cold cream melting into something warm. Then it settles into brown sugar and crushed speculoos biscuits over vanilla pods, with grey amber humming underneath like candlelight. It is dessert you wear, unapologetically sweet, the kind of scent that makes people lean in and ask what smells so good. Beginner-friendly.
