Composition
Alexandria II, from Xerjoff's Oud Stars collection, is an oriental-woody eau de parfum. It opens with palisander rosewood, lavender, cinnamon and apple, reveals lily-of-the-valley, Bulgarian rose and cedar in the heart, and settles into Laotian oud, sandalwood, amber, vanilla and musk.
This is a library in Alexandria that burned down and was rebuilt in gold. Palisander rosewood, lavender, cinnamon and apple open — polished wood, warm spice, a flash of fruit — and then lily-of-the-valley, Bulgarian rose and cedar bloom, floral and woody, like manuscripts and flowers kept in the same room. Agarwood, sandalwood, amber, vanilla and musk dry it down into something dark and resinous and endless, the oud rising like smoke from old pages. It's Xerjoff at full power: opulent, complex, demanding. A masterpiece for people who've earned it. Not for beginners — beginners stay away.
